Powerful Scripture passages to pray over the Muslim World

The Bible tells us that prayer is effective – God listens to His people and our requests, especially when we pray in faith and according to His will. Prayer, as demonstrated by Jesus in Matthew 6:9-10, includes worship to God, thanksgiving, and presenting our requests. God is never bored to hear our prayers, nor is He surprised by them. Prayer is a practice that draws us deeper into a relationship with our Heavenly Father – so much so that we are told we should be praying always.

Romans 12:12 tells us to be faithful in prayer. We do this by bringing our personal worries or thoughts before God, but we can also include others in our daily conversations with God. Faithful prayer warriors make a habit of praying daily for other believers, the global body of Christ, and nonbelievers.

It is so vital for us to include the entire Body of Christ in our prayers, especially persecuted believers who are undergoing trials that Western believers might never fathom. As we are all in the same adopted family as children of God, we can care for each other by praying.

We should also pray for the spread of the gospel and the growth and multiplication of believers who are risking their lives when they decide to follow Christ. Every day, there are people who surrender their lives to Jesus as their Savior and leave Islam behind, even though their Muslim families might try to kill them for it. We should pray for Muslims to find Christ and pray for them to remain strong in their faith when persecution comes!

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.” Romans 10:1

How to pray for Muslims to find Christ in closed Islamic countries

Using Bible verses to pray over the lost is a powerful way to talk to God and center our hearts on one train of thought.

Here are some scripture passages to help us pray for Muslims to find and know Christ.

Pray for Muslims to listen to Jesus’ voice calling to them

“I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.” John 10:16 NLT

Pray for Muslims' eyes and ears to be opened to hear the gospel

“Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed, and the ears of those who hear will give attention.” Isaiah 32

Pray for t:3he Lord to wash the hearts of those who want to be freed from their sins

“He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:5-7

Bible verses to pray over persecuted believers in closed Islamic countries

God makes many promises in the Bible about the rewards that await those who undergo persecution for their faith. These verses about persecution are often a strong foundation that helps persecuted believers remain strong and hopeful when they are undergoing trials.

Pray for persecuted Christians to remain strong in their faith and rely on Christ’s promises

Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.Matthew 5:10-12

This passage is from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, which is one of the most impactful sections of Jesus’ teachings for Muslim background believers. It is the opposite of everything that Muslims are taught in the Quran and Hadith.

Pray for persecuted believers to always remember how much Christ loves them

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.Romans 8:35, 37

Pray for persecuted believers to hold on to hope when they are persecuted

Jesus said, ‘Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last, first.’Mark 10:29-31

Bible verses about sharing the gospel with Muslims

Not only can we pray for believers to remain strong in persecution, but we can pray for Christians in the Arab world and all around the world to be bold in sharing the gospel with Muslims. Islam is a dark, oppressive religion, and we know the Truth, Jesus, who can set Muslims free!

Pray for Christians to be bold in sharing the Good News with Muslims

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!Romans 10:14-15

Pray for Christians to be obedient to the charge to preach the gospel

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” 2 Timothy 4:2

The Lord is waiting for us to pray bold prayers for the lost world and for our persecuted brothers and sisters.  How wonderful it is that our Heavenly Father is so passionate about bringing the lost sheep into His sheepfold. Please join us in praying over the Muslim World, both the persecuted believers and the Muslims who need to hear about Christ’s love for them!
